FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most.

Getting started

What is RingGame?

A competitive pool platform: ranked matches with verified results, ELO ratings, tournaments, venue leaderboards and chat. See About.

Who can join?

Adults 18 and over in the United States. We're rolling out city by city, so venues and events near you may still be coming.

Does it cost anything?

No — creating an account and playing ranked matches is free. Tournament organisers may charge an entry fee, which you pay to them directly.

Is there an app to download?

RingGame runs in your browser on any phone or computer. On a phone, use Add to Home Screen to install it like an app.

How do I become a Ringmaster or list my venue?

Everyone starts as a player. Apply for the Ringmaster role from your account, or sign up as a venue owner — a regional manager reviews venues before they go live.

Matches & results

How do I play a ranked match?

Challenge a player or post an open match, request a Ringmaster, play, then report the score. Your opponent confirms and the Ringmaster verifies. Full details: Results & disputes.

Do I need a referee?

For ranked matches, yes — a Ringmaster must verify the result. Unranked matches can be played without one and complete when both players agree on the score.

What if my opponent reports the wrong score?

Don't confirm it — dispute it and explain why. The Ringmaster (or staff) reviews the evidence and rules: a win for either side, a rematch, or void.

Can a match end in a tie?

No. Every match needs a winner.

What happens if someone doesn't show up?

In tournaments the organiser or Ringmaster can award the match with a written reason. Forfeits are voided, so they don't change anyone's rating.

Ratings & rankings

How is my rating calculated?

With ELO: you gain more for beating stronger players and lose more to weaker ones. K is 40 for your first 20 ranked matches, then 24. See Rating methodology.

Can I start with my Fargo rating?

Yes. Enter it before your first ranked match and your starting rating becomes 1500 + (Fargo − 500) × 1.2.

Why am I not on the leaderboard?

You appear after your first verified ranked match. If you've turned off Public profile, you're hidden from public lists.

What are divisions?

National rankings are grouped into East, Central, South and West divisions, based on the state in your profile.

Tournaments

Which formats are supported?

Single and double elimination, round robin, Swiss, Survivor, Chip and Mixer. See Tournament formats.

When can I check in?

When a tournament requires check-in, it opens 24 hours before the start. Only checked-in players are included in the draw.

Do tournament matches count for ratings?

Yes, if the tournament is ranked. Byes never affect ratings.

Money & wagering

Can I wager on matches?

Not at this time. RingGame doesn't offer wagering, escrow or a wallet. Any future money features will launch only where lawful and under separate terms.

Who handles tournament entry fees and prizes?

The organiser. RingGame shows the amounts for information but doesn't collect or pay them.

Account, privacy & safety

Who can see my profile?

Signed-in members can see your profile and results. Share pages are public. You can hide from public lists with Settings → Privacy → Public profile. Details in the Privacy Policy.

How do I report someone?

Use the report option on a chat message, dispute a match result, or open a support ticket. On a phone you can also shake your device to report a problem. See the Community guidelines.

How do I delete my account?

Request deactivation in Settings → Privacy. Your profile is hidden straight away and your personal data is deleted after 30 days.

How do I get help?

Signed-in members can open a support ticket from Help in the app. You can also email play@ringgame.com — see Contact.
